Amazon cancels SP-API fees: why Amazon sellers should care

Amazon just cancelled the planned SP-API fees.

That matters more than it sounds.

For sellers, this is not developer gossip. It affects the software stack behind:

  • inventory syncing
  • repricing
  • listing management
  • reporting
  • forecasting
  • agency and operator workflows

If those fees had stuck, the cost would have landed somewhere predictable: on you.

What changed:

  • Amazon confirmed the SP-API usage fees and the $1,400 annual fee are cancelled, not just delayed
  • That removes a cost layer for software providers and service partners
  • It reduces the risk of more tool price increases in a year that already has enough margin pressure

Why sellers should care:

  • better chance your core tools stay commercially viable
  • less pressure for software vendors to pass on new API costs
  • more room to keep using specialist tools instead of ripping out parts of your stack

What I’d do now:

  • Review which tools are actually earning their keep.
  • Cut the ones that look clever but don’t move margin.
  • Keep the software that saves time, protects cash flow, or improves decisions.

Amazon selling is hard enough without adding extra toll booths between Seller Central and the tools you rely on.
