Amazon FBA Fee Increases 2026: What Sellers Need to Know
Amazon just stacked two fee increases on sellers. Here’s what you need to know.
Starting April 17, a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge hits FBA fees across the US and Canada. That’s on top of the January 2026 increases that already averaged $0.08 per unit.
Let’s be clear: this compounds. A product in the $10-$50 range already saw fees jump $0.08 per unit in January. Now add 3.5% on top of that. For a $25 item with standard fulfillment, you’re looking at roughly $0.30-$0.40 more per unit in total fee increases since January.
Why it matters:
• Your margins just got tighter. If you’re running 20-25% margins, this cuts into profit directly.
• FBM is looking more attractive. Some sellers will shift to Fulfillment by Merchant to avoid the hit.
• Your pricing strategy needs adjustment. You either absorb the cost or pass it to customers—both have consequences.
• This isn’t temporary. Amazon says it’s tied to fuel costs, but sellers who’ve been here before know these “temporary” surcharges often stick around.
What to do:
1. Run the numbers on your top SKUs. Use Amazon’s Revenue Calculator to see the exact impact.
2. Review your pricing. Can you raise prices without losing competitiveness?
3. Evaluate FBM for slower-moving inventory. The math might work now.
4. Optimize your product mix. Focus on items with healthier margins that can absorb the hit.
Amazon’s justification: they’ve absorbed costs so far, but fuel prices remain elevated. Fair point. But sellers don’t have the same luxury of absorbing costs indefinitely.
This is the reality of selling on Amazon in 2026. Fees go up. Margins compress. You adapt or you lose ground.
