Amazon’s 2026 FBA Fee Changes and Fuel Surcharge: What Sellers Need to Know
Your FBA costs just went up. Twice.
Amazon’s 2026 fee changes hit January 15. Average $0.08 per unit increase across fulfillment fees. Standard-size products $10-$50? That’s $0.25 more per unit for small items. Large items up $0.05.
Then April 17 arrives. A 3.5% fuel surcharge lands on top of everything—FBA, MCF, Buy with Prime. All of it.
This isn’t a one-time adjustment. It’s a structural margin squeeze.
What sellers need to do:
• Model your unit economics now. Use Amazon’s Revenue Calculator and the new Profit Analytics dashboard. See exactly which SKUs survive the new fee structure.
• Optimize packaging. Smaller, lighter items pay less. Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP) saves $0.04-$1.32 per unit if you qualify.
• Tighten inventory. Low-inventory-level fees now apply at FNSKU level instead of parent-ASIN. Aged inventory fees jumped too—$0.30/unit for 12-15 month old stock, $0.35/unit for 15+ months.
• Consider FBM for slower movers. Not everything needs FBA. Some products work better seller-fulfilled, especially if your OTDR is solid.
• Raise prices strategically. You can’t absorb $0.08-$0.13 per unit on thin margins. Competitors are raising prices too. The market will follow.
The silver lining? Amazon’s giving you 90+ days notice and better tools. The Revenue Calculator, Fee and Economics Preview report, and Profit Analytics dashboard let you see the impact before it hits.
But waiting won’t help. Margins compress fast when fees move.
