The Ad Preview tool is a tool in your account that helps advertisers to identify why an ad or ad asset might not be appearing. It shows a preview of a Google search result page for a specific term and helps you see which ads and assets are appearing for your keyword.

If you want to see your ad’s appearance in search results, it is better to use this tool than search on Google. You will see the same results as a Google search but it will not affect your performance stats by accumulating ad impressions every time you search for your ad. It also will not cost you any money to click on the ad!


When you preview an ad, you can change the following criteria

  • Keyword search
  • Location
  • Language
  • Device
  • Audience

When you enter a search and other criteria like language and location, the preview tool will tell you whether your ad is eligible to appear.

Entering searches

The Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool suggests search term auto-completions as you type. Suggestions come from keywords with impressions in your account, and are ordered by volume.

Use this tool to check if your ad asset is being shown with an ad for a particular keyword. If any of your assets aren’t being shown, the tool will tell you what might be causing them not to appear.
